Put Your Boat in Front of Fall Buyers

For the right boat, our first choice is an in-water display at Seattle’s September Boats Afloat Show. When show placement is not the right fit, we use the event to create interest and schedule private appointments at the boat’s regular slip.

For many larger boats, September begins an important selling period: buyers can shop in the fall, close over the winter, and complete repairs, upgrades and commissioning before the next cruising season.

Boats Afloat is a Northwest Yacht Brokers Association show with a strong brokerage and used-boat presence. That matters: buyers come expecting to compare real boats already in the market, not just new-model displays.

A well-prepared listing can be boarded, compared and discussed with brokers in one place. Condition, layout, workmanship, maintenance and ownership history are often much easier to appreciate aboard than online—and we can discuss and take offers during the show.

It is also relatively economical to exhibit, which means we do not have to reserve show space only for the most expensive yachts.

Rates, electrical service, acceptance, placement and available space are subject to current NYBA rules and deadlines. We also consider the boat’s show readiness, pricing and likely benefit from participation.

Private Showings During Show Week

List before the show and let us bring the right buyers to you

Not every owner wants show traffic aboard. Some boats are simply better shown privately. That does not mean you should wait until after Boats Afloat to list.

We meet buyers at the show, learn what they are actually looking for and arrange off-site appointments during and after the event. A buyer may tour several boats on Lake Union and discover that the best fit is waiting at another marina.

Start With a Pre-Listing Review

A better sale can begin years before the listing

If you are still a few years from selling, we should meet aboard now. An annual pre-listing review can help prioritize maintenance, repairs, records and presentation decisions that protect the boat’s condition, value and future desirability.

Sometimes the best advice is to not spend money. We occasionally talk owners out of additions or upgrades that are unlikely to make the boat more desirable—or return their cost at resale.
