Jason Whitaker

Jason’s lifelong connection to the water began in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, where he developed a passion for surfing, fishing, and free diving at a young age. His childhood adventures naturally evolved into a dedicated career as a waterman.
After high school, Jason moved to Cape Town and embarked on a maritime career as a first mate aboard a 60ft charter sailboat, leading sailing tours to Robben Island and surrounding areas. His experience expanded with day charters, coastal deliveries, and sailboat racing with the Royal Cape Yacht Club.
Jason’s expertise grew further when he began delivering brand new Southern Wind Shipyard Farr 72 sailboats from Cape Town to the Mediterranean, a challenging 7000 nautical mile journey. He also served as a First Officer on 100ft+ mega-yachts, frequently involved in charter work in the Mediterranean and along the US East Coast.
After years of Atlantic Ocean deliveries and private mega-yacht work, Jason settled in Florida, started a family, and eventually moved to the Portland area in 2004. Over the years, he has been deeply involved in luxury yacht maintenance, marine electrical/electronics/systems design and installation, boatyard management, and new yacht builds.
In 2016, Jason leveraged his extensive maritime experience and technical knowledge to establish W S Yacht Brokers, starting with the Portland office to serve the Pacific Northwest yachting and boating communities. He expanded the business by opening an office on Shelter Island in San Diego in 2020 and another office on Lake Union in Seattle in November 2023. As a broker, Jason excels in providing clients with comprehensive insights into a vessel’s layout, features, and build quality, offering sound technical advice and unparalleled service.
Jason is committed to building lasting, lifelong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction. He looks forward to meeting you, understanding your needs, and assisting with all your brokerage and project management requirements. For Jason, clients are like family, and their satisfaction is his top priority.
